What is better?

Android, Ipad, or Windows 8 tablets?

             

         There will certainly be a lot arguments to which tablet is superior above the rest. Android has certain apps that the Ipad does not and vice versa. They will argue size and functionality. They will argue value for your buck. Then when it comes to the new Windows 8, people will just want whats new. And that is the other argument. What is newer and faster and bigger....or smaller depending on what you are looking for.


         But honestly what I believe it comes down to is the phone you use. If you have an Iphone then your best choice will be the Ipad. If you have any of the multiple android phones then obviously you'll want an android tablet. You want one when you have the other for the basic reason of compatibility and easy access of your info between your devices. The question now is do you like the Windows 8 tablet enough to go out and buy a Windows 8 phone? 

         I am interested in seeing what people will choose to do.

Ted Talk with Julia Sweeney

Julia Sweeney gave a speech for Ted Talk a couple of years ago. She discussed a topic that is difficult for most parents to deal with when it comes to their children. THE SEX TALK!!!!!  Scary. I am now a father and dread the day when I will have to have this talk. Julia Sweeney makes fun of this subject, which is easy to do, and discusses how she had the talk with her 8 year old. She did not have to use any props or visual materials. What she did was used humor to help you imagine what it was like for her to have this scary subject breached. She talked about how she used her computer to look up some info with her daughter  hoping that info from the internet could help her answer some difficult questions her daughter had.  I was extremely engaged and entertained. But the purpose, besides hearing of funny story, eludes me a bit. I suppose that she was having the audience question what would be the best way and tools to deal with such a matter. I guess I will find out for myself when that time comes for me.

Business use of Twitter And Facebook

Twitter And Facebook are not just for friends to be social and play anymore. Business are now using these social media tools to benefit their companies. 

One example is the shopping giant, Target, with their Twitter https://twitter.com/Target and Facebook https://www.facebook.com/target?fref=ts pages. 

They use their Twitter account to have fun with customers and give links to other sites. They use their Facebook page to advertise sales and give general info about their store. On Facebook you can like the page to get updates on special events and deals too. The Facebook page also gives links to sites for customer service and specialties like wedding or baby registry.

Another example of business use of these social medias is Cisco. They also have a Twitter account https://twitter.com/CiscoSystems and Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/Cisco?fref=ts.

Cisco uses twitter a little differently than Target does. They have several accounts that they use for different purposes. One is used for general info and then another is used for technical support. Another one is even used to help with and promote their certifications. Facebook is a site they use to answer questions about their technology and advertise meetings and new technology.

Two different companies promoting two different types of product. But both can use social media to inform and assist their customers in any area that is needed.

Your future in IT

I am going into IT and the future is bright. But where do I go and what do I do exactly? Jobs in IT are not so general and you need to figure out what aspect of it interests you the most.

Why I chose M.A.T.C.

To start off, my name is Adam Menke and I have never blogged before. I also have never really read blogs. I guess I always assumed that they were filled with rants and complaints that people had, and I did not care to read about negativity. After my second class of Social Media- Business, @ITone07 , I have realized there is more to it than that.

I chose M.A.T.C. for a few reasons. 

• I have always been interested in gadgets and technology( though probably not to the extent that some of my classmates are).
•  They offer a two year quality degree. Unlike places like PC Pro who steal your money and rush you through to get your certs.
•  M.A.T.C. does a good job of helping place their students in a career when they graduate.
•  Lastly you can transfer your credits on to another institute to continue your education.

So far I see no reason to think I made a bad decision in choosing to attend this institute.Hopefully I will be able to add more thoughts to this as I progress through my education.
